PERIODS
- (3) - 15 MINUTE PERIODS - RUNNIG TIME
- NOTE: If the score differential is (3) goals or less, with 3 minutes, remaining in the Third Period, stopped time will begin.
WARM-UPS
- (3) MINUTES - The ice will be resurfaced before each game.
TIED GAMES
- Regular Season: Regular season games will end in a tie.

- Playoff & Championship Games: OVERTIME then a SHOOTOUT

A five minute stopped time, 4 on 4, sudden death, overtime period will be played.
If the score remains tied after the overtime, a three man shoot-out will be held to determine a winner. Visiting team shoots first. If after the first three shooters, the score is still tied, a sudden death shoot-out (one skater each) shall continue until a winner is determined. All skaters on the players’ bench are required to shoot before a player may shoot for a second time.
NOTE: Any player serving a penalty at the end of regulation play is NOT eligible to participate in the shootout.
PENALTIES
- 1:30 Minute MINOR, 5 Minute MAJOR, 10 Minute MISCONDUCT
Discipline For Excessive Penalties:
- (4) Penalties carry an automatic game ejection (remainder of game)
- Fighting WILL NOT be tolerated. Any players involved in a fight as deemed by the game officials will receive an automatic game misconduct and 6 game suspension.
TIMEOUTS
Each team is allowed a one minute time out per Game
EQUIPMENT
Players are required to follow USA Hockey equipment guidelines. Hockey helmets must be worn.
GAME RESULTS
A maximum differential of six goals per game will be used for standings/tiebreaker purposes. ex. A score of 14-3 becomes 9-3; a score of 8-0 becomes 6-0.
STANDINGS & TIE BREAKERS
STANDINGS: STANDINGS WILL BE DETERMINED UTILIZING THE FOLLOWING POINT SYSTEM:
WIN IN REGULATION - 2 POINTS
TIE – 1 POINT
TIE BREAKERS:
IF TEAMS ARE TIED IN THE STANDINGS, THE FOLLOWING TIE BREAKING RULES WILL APPLY (in order):
1. HEAD TO HEAD - game results in the games played between the tied teams.
2. GOAL DIFFERENTIAL – Goals for, minus goals against in game played against each other. Note: In a given game the goal differential will be a maximum of (6) regardless of a greater goal differential. Ex: 15-2 = 8-2
3. FEWEST GOALS ALLOWED FOR ALL GAMES PLAYED DURING SEASON.
4. FEWEST TOTAL PENALTY MINUTES IN ALL GAMES PLAYED DURING SEASON.
5. COIN TOSS
OTHER RULES
- USA Hockey playing rules are in effect except for some modifications listed below.
- All players are required to follow USA Hockey equipment recommendations.
- This is a non-checking league. Body checking is not permitted in any form.
- Slap shots are allowed.
- The red line will be used for automatic icing.
- The tag-up rule will be used for off-sides.
Illegal players and teams:
- All Final Rosters must be submitted to the league by March 15, 2022.
- All Players on the roster must play in at least SIX (6) regular season games to be eligible for the playoff round.
- Any non-roster player playing in a league game will result in an automatic forfeit of the game for the offending team. Exceptions may be made for goaltenders in the event of extenuating circumstances.
- No Player may participate until all Player Fees are Paid In Full.
*THE LEAGUE DIRECTOR(S) RESERVES THE RIGHT TO MAKE ANY DECISIONS REGARDING LEAGUE RULES, FORMAT, ETC. FOR THE OVERALL GOOD OF THE LEAGUE.
Team Name Policy
Because the Seaside Hockey League’s website and social media platforms are visible to hockey fans of all ages, team names must not be offensive to any particular group or individual. While we encourage and enjoy creativity, we will not have team names that may be sexually suggestive, discriminatory, or harassing in any way. League Directors will review all team names and, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to reject any team name or modify any team name deemed offensive by either abbreviating or shortening the name. Thank you for your cooperation in being respectful to all hockey players and fans.
Tony Kent Arena Alcohol Policy
The official policy of the Tony Kent Ice Arena is that alcohol is not permitted anywhere on the premises
- Seaside Hockey is open to all players, male and female, 18 years old or older.
- Team Rosters will have 15 Skaters and 1 Goalie.
League Dues
$225 per player - Due By March 1, 2022
or
$3,375 per team - Due By March, 1 2022
No Fees will be accepted after March 1, 2022.
- Team Uniforms and Socks to be provided by the each team.
- Games will be played at Tony Kent Arena in South Dennis, MA
